Hey guys, listen up 'cause I need your help.

A band I am involved with, Antythesys, has been chosen by Alfa Matrix to apart of a competition wherein 5 of the best up & coming new bands have been selected and the public is invited to vote for their favourite. The winner gets to sign to Alfa Matrix.

All you have to do is follow this link and enter your vote for Antythesys. No form of registration is required.

This is obviously a crucial competition and the stakes are high. With all of you help, we are in with a shot to join such acts as 242, Implant, Leaether Strip, Unter Null, Tamtrum and others in the Alfa Matrix family.

ANTYTHESYS is the new project from Nemesis (ex-Alien Vampires) and Virul3nt (Shiv-r). Having left Alien Vampires due to creative differences, Nemesis brings us his own unique vision for electro-industrial dancefloor domination. Shiv-r's Virul3nt joined the project in 2008 and the two members exchange musical elements and remixes.
Check out Antythesys at myspace or antythesys.com.

Thanks!!!

SHIV-R is a new force in the field of dark electronic music. The heavy and unsettling atmosphere generated by this band is at times intended for the clubs, and at times drawn to a slow, grinding pace for full dramatic impact.
The key characteristics of the Shiv-r sound are haunting, neoclassical melodies, harsh percussive club sounds, clean male vocals delivered in shouts and whispers, sparse rhythm guitars and an overwhelming dark atmosphere. The duo consists of Lee Bulig (aka Kong) and Pete Crane (aka Virul3nt), with both collaborating on the music and Pete taking up main vocal duties. A NEW FORCE!”

Stay tuned for a full-length debut album to be released in late October 2009.

Infacted Recordings
Shiv-r

PABS vol3

The time has come and in July 2009 Advoxya Records will release their latest compilation: PABS Vol.3.

This time the tracklisting concentrates more on showcasing Advoxya artists and marks the addition of a few new bands to the growing Advoxya roster, such as Alien Produkt as well as some other familiar names.

Also worthy of mentioning is the inclusion of a new, exclusive track by Plague Sequence. This track marks a new direction for Plague Sequence, which seemingly sheds all links and burns all bridges to the psytrance sound of previous material and takes an industrial-trance sound in a flowing yet harsh track with aggressive vocals named "Body".

Of course, the comp also includes a new, exclusive Crystalline Efect remix.

Tracklisting:

Disc 1:
1.1. Denergized - Time (PABS3 edit).
1.2. Alien Produkt - Inflexible (Narr remix).
1.3. Nexus VI - Face to face (sampler edition).
1.4. Synaptic Defect - Alone in the dark (PABS3 edit).
1.5. Deadjump - Animus necandi (with a knife mix).
1.6. Spin Provider - Patroni (556 mix).
1.7. Drained Scorn - Bone breaker (PABS3 remix).
1.8. The Pain Machinery - Total recall (extended mix).
1.9. Mind.Area - SAP (mastered for PABS3).
1.10. Massiv In Mensch - Never trust the outline (massive module mix by Impact Pulse).
1.11. First Black Pope - Blackdays (advent remix).
1.12. Mulphia - Who needs god (PABS3 exclusive track).
1.13. The Crystalline Effect - How i get out (advoxya hard mix).
1.14. The-Pulsar - My dream (PABS3 special edition, turned up by Wavefall).
1.15. Sadiztik Injektion - Near Apocalypse (PABS3 edit).
1.16. V.E.N. - Nothing remains (cut module mix by Impact Pulse).

Disc 2:
1.1. Hired.Life - Contract (DX version).
1.2. cB(CycloneB) - The sun (alcoholic body rmx).
1.3. Sublagrimal - Sangre y Muerte (remix ES23).
1.4. Total Pain Kollapz - The march of the dead (scitzo mix untitled).
1.5. Impact Pulse - Ez a vilag (speaking hungarian PABS3 edit).
1.6. T.W.Z. - The 5th day, the 6th night (Severe Illusion vs. T.W.Z.).
1.7. Larva - The hated (FYL remix).
1.8. Wavefall - Collider (find new matter! mix).
1.9.
As our label wants our new EP to be finished by the end of the year, I'd set a personal deadline of 1 June to start concentrating hard on it.
The CD will contain at least 2 original, exclusive tracks and a bunch of remixes. I'm soon sending out invitations for remix artists to work with material from our Identity album and the new tracks. As usual, I'm aiming high first and asking my favourite acts over the past few years.

So this is something to expect from TCE.

Dark Realm, Melbourne, 25 April 09 feat. The Crystalline Effect/Plague Sequence has been CANCELLED.

Due to licencing laws and tomorrow's event falling on ANZAC day, I have just been informed that Dark Realm has been completely cancelled as the venue is required by law to close at 11pm. We are hoping to reschedule for the following Friday. More details to come.

Coincidentally, TCE wouldn't have been able to play tomorrow as my singer cannot make it anyway and I was going to do it as Plague Sequence instead.

Apologies to those who have made plans to attend this gig! Please spread the word to anyone you know who may have planned on attending.

If you consider The Crystalline Effect's history, I think we have worse luck than any band I have ever heard of...

So....what's on in town instead?

I guarantee I will keep the beat going and play harder than anything you will hear in the "Tekno Mulisha" side-room!

Stage-time is 1:30am, however things may run a bit later than that on the night.

I hope to see all of you Melbourne people there!

Chain D.L.K reviews Shiv-r - 4 Stars

This is the debut release of a quite interesting Australian-based newcomer act, but with prominent and experienced Electro/Industrial-musicians hiding behind. SHIV-R is the new playing field of Pete Crane (better known with his Electro-Pop project THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT, signed to the Hungarian Advoxya Records) and Lee Bulig, the brainchild behind the legendary but unfortunately gone Harsh-Electro act STARK. Three original tracks plus two additional remix works by each of the both artists are featured on this first audio sign of life. The title track is of course the main track here, a hard and straight-forward oriented danceable Hellectro tune, which luckily adds niches for a well-done listening procedure too. Pete takes care on the male vocals and he does really well with this, better than expected. Also both additional tracks ”Fractured Light” and ”Control” aren’t that straight oriented and leave enough room for the listener to consume without to discover another plain Tekkno-oriented bass drum hammering . Oh, and the use of guitar riffs subtle integrated aren’t forbidden for them – a good idea for some variations is always appreciated. A quite promising and well done debut, let’s hope for more of these both talented musicians soon.
4 Stars
-Chain D.L.K
Review by Marc Tater

http://www.chaindlk.com/reviews/?id=5032

Gothtronic review Shiv-r - "Parasite"

Review published here.

"The Parasite EP of the Australian EBM industrial project Shiv-r kicks off immediately with a pounding dance floor bomb which is the technoid EBM title track. Shiv-r is a prpject formed by Pete Crane (known from the electropop band The Crystalline Effect) and Lee Bullig (known from the now defunct dark electro band Stark). The club centred sequences and beats on this debut EP get company from ethereal neo-classical sounds, which make this Australian project have resemblances with the also young Dutch project Schwarzblut. ‘Fractured Light’ contains next to the club accessible beats a sound which is more focused on atmosphere and has vocals that bring to mind the successful days of Front Line Assembly. ‘Control’ goes a step further even and leaves the dance floor with a slower pace yet it is a very haunting track with horror sounds and effective use of guitar. The final two tracks are remixes of ‘Parasite’ and ‘Control’, of which the first one with its trance influences is very much focused on the dance floor. Shiv-r doesn’t bring any renewing input to the EBM scene but the club compatible tracks of Shiv-r will surely crowd the dance floor."

Just in: Side Line review of The Crystalline Effect - "Identity" album

Elenor Rayner (vocals and lyrics) and Pete Crane (music) are The Crystalline Effect. Hailing from Australia their debut album "Glass" was released in 2005 on the Polish (and now gone) Black Flames Records. They joined another East-European label to release the “Hypothermia”-EP in 2007. “Identity” is definitely a good name to define this new album. Ths Crystalline Effect definitely gained in maturity finding the right balance between EBM and groovy-technoid elements. The vocals of Elenor Rayner become another essential part of the songs. She now adds some deep, emotional content (cf. “How I Get Out”) in her timbre of voice and than moves into hot and sexy parts (cf. “Ialundra”). Pete Crane perfectly operates behind his gear leading the music of The Crystalline Effect into cool danceable vibes. The song “Five Ways To Run” is a very good illustration of the man’s evolution. He here creates a divine mix between typical dance tones and a kind of psychedelic touch. The sound research is remarkable and definitely pushes “Identity” into a refreshing electronic anthem. A few other songs like “Blue Sea”, “How I Get Out” and even the quieter and astral-like “Life Has Failed You” are excellent extracts from this album. The last 3 songs are remixes by Lee Bulig, Endif and Impact Pulse. Especially the “Tazman Module Remix” of “Nothings Warms This Room” (originally released on the “Hypothermia”-EP) is a great piece of clubby music! The Crystalline Effect became for sure one of the leading bands on the Hungarian Advoxya Records!
(DP:7)DP.

http://www.side-line.com/reviews_comments.php?id=39913_0_17_0_C

I'm currently doing a TCE interview for Side Line too...

Side Line review Shiv-r - "Parasite" EP

Shiv-R is a brand-new duo from Australia. Set up by Lee Bulig (Kong, Stark) and Pete Crane (Crystalline Effect) Shiv-R sounds like a new band in the worldwide dark electro army. This maxi features 5 songs and the title song is a real impressive one. “Parasite” reminds me of the powerful, banging and progressive style of Combichrist. I guess this is more than a simple reference! I’m really impressed by the elaboration of this song revealing an impressive arsenal of sounds merged with a terrific, harsh beat. The vocals have been masterfully produced, adding a kind of spooky touch to the song. Another great song is the remix of “Parasite” by Pete Crane working under the Virul3nt-moniker. It sounds Combichrist-minded as well, but with some variation in sound and female vocals instead of the male ones. Wendy Leaver (Straylight) here adds her really hot and sensual timbre of voice. It creates a delicious contrast with the powerful music. 2 other songs are quite different. They’re definitely quieter and reinforced by guitar parts. These songs remain well crafted and elaborated, but didn’t kick ass like “Parasite”. One of them (cf. “Control”) has been remixed by Lee Bulig under the Kong moniker, but can’t totally convince me. There are not enough songs here to evaluate the real potential of Shiv-R, but the main song is a pure ‘endzeit’ jewel where even Andy La Plegua would be jealous of.
(DP:7/8)DP.

http://www.side-line.com/reviews_comments.php?id=39894_0_17_0_C
